We have assessments for the Tyker, Lightning, Midget and Junior age groups starting in early January at an indoor facility. This allows us to review the boys skills and help us put together the different level teams. We play in the Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association (MYLA) which has rules about ages, levels of play etc.. which is what WAX follows.
Ages 4-6 play in the Pockets and Pockets 101 programs, with no contact, and only using a stick and soft ball.
Ages 7-8 play in the Tykers division of the MYLA league usually at the 8v8 level. This is played on a 75% size field, with full pads and limited contact.
Ages 9-10 (Lightning), 11-12 (Midgets), and 13-14 (Juniors) play in the Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association.
During the summer, WAX offers a Tyker Nation clinic for Tykers age children, as well as for boys moving up from Pockets the following year.
Begining in late August, WAX offers Fall Ball each Sunday until Halloween. This is broken down by age group and includes a short practice followed by games. Each age group's Fall Ball runs approximately 90 minutes each week.
Early December through March, WAX boys play in the South Hanover YMC indoor league which is about 20 minutes north of Westminster. Games are by age group. This is for all players so feel please sign up and have fun!
